About Me
Hi, I'm Louisa, a UK based Veterinary Surgeon here to inspire, encourage and support as many vets and vet students as I can.
I studied at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science (England) graduating with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2013.
My initial veterinary career was spent at a Small Animal Hospital where I soon developed a love for Internal Medicine and passion for mentoring and supporting other veterinarians.
I have volunteered and worked overseas in Chang Mai, Rajasthan and Namibia and I have worked in a variety of sectors including Emergency and Critical Care, Charity, Veterinary Hospitals, Referral Centres and General Practice.
My career so far has involved roles as a Veterinary Assistant, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Mentor Veterinary Surgeon, Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Clinic Director. In 2018 I achieved my advanced qualification in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Small Animal Medicine as well my Post Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional Studies. I am currently a full time Clinic Director at a very busy Small Animal General Practice in North Yorkshire.
I enjoy all aspects of general practice, but my main clinical interests are in internal medicine, (especially endocrine disease) and ophthalmology! That said I do love a juicy surgical procedure too!
I love what I do, and I’m humbled with the following and interaction I have on my social media pages.
My passion for continuing education, sharing knowledge and supporting others is what motivated me to create my own mentoring programme ‘Your Vet Coach’ .
Your Vet Coach has been set up to support veterinary students in their transition from veterinary student to practitioner as well as other young vets all over the world
